Canada’s Quality of Life Framework – Environment Domain
Satisfaction with local environment, life satisfaction and self-rated mental health are indicators in the Quality of Life Framework for Canada. Using data from the Canadian Social Survey, this infographic looks at a high level of satisfaction with the local environment among the population aged 15 years and older in Canada’s 10 provinces.

People with high satisfaction with their local environment tend to say they have high levels of life satisfaction and mental health.Note 2Note 3
Life satisfaction:
- 64% of those with high satisfaction with the local environment reported high life satisfaction.
- 54% of the total population reported high life satisfaction.
Mental health:
- 59% of those with high satisfaction with the local environment said they have excellent or very good mental health.
- 52% of the total population has excellent or very good mental health.
